Meet Juliana Duimstra, MA

I am a creative arts therapist in Montreal specializing in play therapy for children and youth. I currently practice at the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex. I completed my master's in art therapy at Concordia University, with additional training in child-centered play therapy.

What sets my work apart is my integration of play and art therapy within a warm, attuned, and child-centered relationship. I bring a calm, creative, and responsive presence to sessions, meeting each child where they are and adapting to their unique needs. Alongside my work with children, I also offer parent coaching, supporting caregivers in understanding their child’s emotional world and strengthening connection at home.

My Approach

My approach is child-centered and grounded in the belief that play is a child’s natural language for expressing, processing, and healing. I follow the child’s lead while supporting emotional expression, self-understanding, and resilience.

Alongside play therapy, I integrate art therapy when it feels supportive, offering additional ways for children to express themselves beyond words. Whether through play, art-making, or a combination of both, my goal is to help children feel seen, understood, and empowered.
